Saskatchewan’s economy added 8,300 new jobs during June as the unemployment rate dropped to 6.3 per cent.
Statistics Canada said Friday it was the largest one-month job increase for the province since April 2012.
All gains were in full-time employment, with 11,300 positions added during the month. Part-time employment fell by 3,600 jobs.
The agency said on a year-over-year basis, employment was changed very little.
The unemployment rate fell 0.5 percentage points from the previous month to 6.3 per cent.
The rate was highest for those between the ages of 15 to 24 at 13.3 per cent.
Overall, Canada posted a larger-than-expected gain of 31,800 jobs last month, sparking fears the Bank of Canada could raise interest rates on July 11.
