St. James crash lands two in hospital, driver faces impaired charge

Winnipeg police have a man in custody following a serious crash a near Sturgeon Creek Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews were called to the 400 block of Hamilton Avenue around 7 p.m. for a multi-vehicle collision.

Police said a sedan travelling east on Hamilton crossed the boulevard and the westbound lane and jumped the sidewalk on the north side of the street.

The vehicle hit a bench at a bus stop and two parked cars before stopping.

There were two people in the car at the time of the crash — both were taken to hospital in unstable condition but were later upgraded to stable.
