Police in Dauphin said Tuesday a team of 50 people is searching for a Winnipeg man who went missing over the weekend during Countryfest.

Manitoba RCMP, search and rescue and personnel from the Fire Commissioner’s office are searching for 24-year-old Danny Kidane who was last seen at the music festival campground Saturday afternoon.

“If there’s one thing going for him, he definitely has the skills to handle his own,” Haben said.

“He always likes to tinker with stuff. I’m sure if he’s out there, he’s figuring things out.”

Festival officials displayed a photo of Danny on the main stage Sunday night asking everyone to be on the lookout.

The search area includes the creek that runs along side the campground, as well as the bushy terrain which neighbours the Countryfest site.

RCMP Const. Rob Tuff said the missing person’s case is somewhat out of the ordinary.

“I’ve worked just about every Countryfest since it first began. This is the first time I recall we’ve had a missing person that hasn’t been located in a short period of time,” Tuff said.

Investigators have expanded the search from the festival site to part of Riding Mountain National Park and urge anyone with details to get in touch with them.
