My husband is
what I call a “doer”.. he wants to do things, he wants to savour every
opportunity that comes along and live each day as if it’s his last. Where I
will say “Why” he will say “Why Not”. It’s a wonderful
quality on most occasions, but sometimes I’m not totally on board.
For our
summer vacation, he took the four of us on a road trip from Colorado
to South Dakota and North
Dakota and back to Regina.
It wasn’t something I thought would be great for Brooklyn.
Sometimes she fusses in her car seat during the 3 minute commute to the
babysitters. How could she manage all that time on the road? Well,
I stand corrected, she was amazing. It may have been the dedication of
her big sister, Ally, amusing her in the back seat, but she was never really
unhappy. In fact, she may have enjoyed the trip more than the rest of us.
Aside from the time we spent in a tent, her favourite stop was definitely Mount Rushmore.
This was the look of sheer delight Brooklyn had on her face all afternoon as she made her way around “The President’s Trail”. Oh to be one year old and blissfully happy with the most ordinary of things!
