Winnipeg police arrested a 32-year-old man found carrying nearly $10,000 worth of methamphetamine early Thursday morning.
Around 1:45 a.m., officers spied a man leaving a taxi at Main Street and Bannerman Avenue. The man was holding a can of alcohol, and jumped back in the taxi as soon as he saw the police.
The officers became suspicious and conducted a traffic stop. They found the man was in violation of his parole conditions and placed him under arrest.
After searching the man, police found 11 grams of meth in the man’s pockets and another 87 grams of the drug in his duffel bag.
The combined street value of the drugs was $9,800, according to police.
Matthew Frederick Sheppard faces charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and consuming liquor in a public place.
His parole has also been revoked.
