3 escaped young offenders from Prince Albert youth residence captured, charged

Saskatchewan correction officials say three young offenders who escaped custody have been caught.

Police were called to the Prince Albert Youth Residence at around 9:20 p.m. CT on June 21 for a report of a guard being assaulted and three youth then fleeing custody.

Officials applied for a court order to identify the youth as they are considered dangerous.

The boys, all 17, were located and arrested by Prince Albert police in three separate incidents.

In a release Monday morning, officials said the three youth can no longer be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All are facing new charges of assault and escape from lawful custody. The accused were scheduled to appear in Prince Albert provincial court on Monday.

The nature of the previous charges they are held on have not been released. Officials said these are “serious indictable charges.”
