Wyatt and Pagtakhan will not seek re-election to Winnipeg council

Transcona city councillor Russ Wyatt added his name to the list of veterans who are not seeking re-election this fall.

Wyatt made his announcement at a council meeting Thursday afternoon.

Earlier in the day Point Douglas city councillor, Mike Pagtakhan, told council this was his last term.

Both councillors were elected in 2002.

Earlier this year Jenny Gerbasi announced she would not be seeking a sixth term.

The Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry councillor is the longest-serving elected official at city hall.

Charleswood area voters could also have a new name and voice representing them at city hall come October 24.

In May Winnipeg city councillor Marty Morantz announced he will seek the Conservative nomination for the 2019 federal election in the Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley riding.

Liberal MP Doug Eyolfson currently represents that area in Ottawa.

Morantz was elected to council in 2014.
