The coaching career of Brian Towriss, who led the Saskatchewan Huskies to three Canadian university football championship titles, will be celebrated later this year.

Towriss, who is affectionately known as BT, is the winningest football head coach in Canadian university history with 196 wins in 315 games. He’s also holds the record for Vanier Cup appearances as a head coach at nine and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

Thanks to BT!, which is being put on by the Huskies Football Alumni Club, will honour the 37-year coaching career of Towriss.

“This event is important for our alumni, the football community, and all of BT’s friends and fans … to pay tribute to a man who has dedicated his career to the game and has impacted the lives of so many,” club president Rylund Hunter said in a press release.

“Funds raised by this celebration will help to create a legacy and support student athletes for years to come.”

The Thanks to BT! event will also honour the 20th anniversary of the Huskies’ 1998 championship team, coached by Towriss.

Former Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall is the honourary chair of the event.

“What coach Towriss did for the University of Saskatchewan, my alma mater, the football program, and his pivotal impact on the lives of so many student athletes is worthy of the abiding gratitude of an entire province,” Wall said in a press release.

“It will be a privilege to be able to attend the event. It is an honor to count BT as a friend.”

Thanks to BT! will take place at the Saskatoon Field House on Sept. 15.
