A busy arterial road in Peachland is again open after water problems from a small landslide closed it to traffic.
A section of the bank above Princeton Avenue gave way Thursday afternoon, covering part of the road with debris.
Some of the rocky material was swept down a roadside ditch into a culvert under highway 97, blocking the 60 metre long pipe.
That forced the water out of a crack in the pavement at the foot of Princeton avenue with about 1500 litres a minute washing across Highway 97 into Okanagan Lake.
Suck It Up Environmental from Summerland was hired to clear the culvert using a high-pressure hose and nozzle.
“We worked really hard at it, got it freed up,” said company owner Ray Smith. “Everybody was pretty happy this (Monday) morning when they saw the water stop flowing down the road.”
A camera put through the culvert shows there is no damage to the 20 inch diameter pipe.
