The driver immediately set up a dike to prevent run off and the fire department set up a hot zone as methyl alcohol is flammable.

Assistant fire chief Wayne Rodger said roughly five per cent of the chemical leaked but at no time was there a risk to the public.

Arrangements were made with a private contractor to empty the contents of the tote to another container, which was completed just after 10:15 a.m.

There are no reports of any injuries.
