Peterborough Students honour the Humboldt Broncos by wearing jerseys – Apr 12, 2018

There were Leafs, Petes, Oilers, Stars and Canadiens jerseys.

Students at Immaculate Conception Catholic Elementary School in Peterborough paid tribute to the Humboldt Broncos hockey team by wearing their jerseys to school today.

“They’re going through some tough times and so is their community,” said Hayley Larkin-Brown, a Grade 2 student.

“I’m wearing this jersey to show respect.  I play hockey myself, I couldn’t put myself in their shoes,” added Shawn Fitzgerald, a Grade 7 student.

Students who didn’t have a jersey wore green and yellow, the colours of the Broncos.

“At Immaculate, we are really community-oriented.  We’re all teachers, parents, kids and coaches.  We’ve spent time on buses.  We wanted the Broncos to know they’re not alone in this, we’re behind them.” said teacher Mitch Champagne.
