Typically, city-run golf courses open in mid-April, but based on the current forecast and snow accumulations, the season is about two weeks behind schedule.

“I’d say it’s unusual. It’s probably only the second time in probably the last ten to 15 years where we’ve been in this kind of situation,” said Andrew Roberts, the city’s manager of special use facilities.

Wildwood opened to golfers on April 1 last year and most public and private course were open by mid-April.

City practice facilities could be ready by the end of April this year, with courses opening in early May.

“Unfortunately, it is what it is,” Roberts said.

Saskatoon’s city-operated golf courses include Holiday Park, Silverwood and Wildwood.
