A late afternoon fire that extensively damaged a house in Saskatoon was caused by unattended cooking.
Firefighters were called to the home at 223 Ave. X South just after 5 p.m. CT Thursday for multiple reports of heavy smoke coming from the top floor.
Crews said there was heavy smoke coming out of open windows when they arrived.
Two people inside the home had evacuated before firefighters arrived and a search was done to ensure no one else was inside.
The fire was brought under control in eight minutes.
A woman was examined for possible smoke inhalation and was released at the scene.
Damage is estimated at $130,000.
The Saskatoon Fire Department is reminding people they should not open windows in the event of a fire.
