Blues right-wing Stewart named NHL’s player of the week with 7 points in 3 games

NEW YORK, N.Y. – St. Louis right-wing Chris Stewart has been named the NHL’s first star of the week after his timely scoring helped the Blues to three straight wins.

Stewart had five goals, including two game-winners, and two assists over the Blues’ last three games. He capped the week with the overtime winner and an assist in a 2-1 triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

Stewart has seven goals and seven assists in his last seven games and leads the Blues with 14 goals and 28 points in 28 games this season.

Ottawa centre Kyle Turris and Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky won second- and third-star honours respectively.

Turris had four goals and two assists in Ottawa’s last four games, including a pair of wins and two shootout losses.

Bobrovsky, last week’s first star, continued his strong play for the resurgent Blue Jackets. He backstopped Columbus to a shutout win and a pair of shootout losses last week..
