SALABERRY-DE-VALLYFIELD – A serious mould problem which forced the closure of Gault Institute Elementary School in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield has been resolved.
Following complaints from students and staff earlier this month, the New Frontiers School Board conducted mould and air quality tests throughout the entire school.
La Direction de la Sante Publique has declared that there are only two areas of concern in the building. The areas have been sealed off and will be repaired.

Meanwhile portable classrooms will be installed to compensate for the lost space.
School board director, Rob Buttars says, “everything has been cleaned, disinfected and ventilated in all places occupied by children and staff.
Despite the assurance, some parent’s still aren’t convinced that the problem has been solved.
“I have a very hard time believing it’s really all gone,” Sabrina Knox says, “but I have no choice to send them back to school.. so no, I’m not very happy.”
The school board will hold an information meeting for parents of Gault Insititute on Monday, March 18th at 7:00pm.
