A caller phoned into Cohen’s show and asked the SNL veterans — who were featured on the show from 2005 to 2013 and 2010 to 2016, respectively — the question, “Who was the worst-behaved musical guest or host [during] your time at SNL?”

The two immediately shared their thoughts. “We both know, dog,” Pharoah said. Hader replied, “Yeah, it was Bieber.”

“He was in a bad place,” Hader said. “Maybe he’s in a better place. But back then … it was rough.”

Hader continued: “Everyone’s usually on great behaviour. Everyone’s very excited and great behaviour. Most times, it’s 100 per cent and Bieber’s the only one in my experience. I think he just seemed exhausted or he was at the end of a rope. He was just so huge.”

This isn’t the first time Hader has discussed his feelings about Bieber’s work at SNL.

On March 13, Hader appeared on The Bill Simmons podcast live at South by Southwest, where he spoke about his experience with the pop star.

“Bieber had a giant entourage with him. Like he had more people than [Barack] Obama when Obama came. He had a guy who held his pizza…at one point you have to do a quick change where you change into your next costume. You have like, 30 seconds. And Justin was like ‘I don’t like you touching me. What are you doing?’ And he didn’t like her grabbing him or whatever,” Hader said.

He continued: “And the guy holding the pizza was like ‘Justin, Justin she’s just trying to change your clothes.'”

In 2013 during an interview with Howard Stern, Hader touched on Bieber’s entourage.

“Justin Bieber showed up with like 20 guys,” he recalled at the time. “He had a guy holding a slice of pizza. A guy holding a Diet Coke … You’re trying to fight through all these people to get dressed.”

Hader didn’t completely bash the Sorry singer. “I had nice chats with him when he was doing the scenes … he was a nice guy,” he told Stern. “He would try to do the best that he can.”

In 2014Hader mentioned his dislike for the singer. “I really didn’t enjoy having Justin Bieber around,” Hader said during Live From New York: An Uncensored History Of Saturday Night Live. “He’s the only one who lived up to the reputation. I think that’s the only time I felt that way in eight years.”

The Canadian pop star appeared on SNL as host and musical guest in February 2013 to promote his Believe album and tour. His appearance was a year before he started getting into legal troubles for DUIs and many other infractions.
