Hamilton fire officials are investigating the source of a blaze that caused extensive damage to a home on the Mountain.
Firefighters were called to a semi-detached residence on East 21st, near Fennell and Upper Wentworth, at about 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Fire information officer Dave Forster says the blaze is not suspicious, but crews are still looking for answers.

“We sort of have some information from the residents that it may have started in the basement,” he said. “Our crews found some indications that it may have been in the kitchen, so that’s part of the reason that we’re having a difficult time determining where it originated.”
Three adults were inside when the fire started according to Forster, but they all vacated without injury after being alerted by smoke alarms.
