The Golden Bears defeated St. Francis Xavier 4-2 in the USports final at the Couple U Cup in Fredericton.

The Bears rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals.

Jamie Crooks was in his last year with the team.

He told 630 CHED’s Reid Wilkins they were a little rusty to start.

“We played okay, (but) not as good as we could have. And then after we got those two goals we started playing our game and it showed.”

He said that it’s a surreal feeling to win his third championship in five years.

“It’s pretty unbelievable,” Crooks said. “It doesn’t really feel like it’s over yet, but it’s a pretty cool way to go out. All the boys put in a huge effort and I’m proud of every single one of them. So it’s pretty awesome.”
