SASKATOON- Saskatoon residents working to save Third Avenue United Church, received disappointing news late Tuesday afternoon.

A request to approve a bid for a lease and purchase deal, has been denied.

The church’s official board and trustees of Third Avenue Pastoral Charge had put forward a request to approve the bid.

The deciding body, the River Bend Presbytery executive, declined the request.

This means, the property will have to go up for sale, for an outright purchase open to all bidders with a completion of sale deadline of Dec. 31, 2013.
