UPDATED: Lumby man dead following snowmobiling accident

A Lumby man is dead as the result of a snowmobiling accident.

The victim’s name has not been released by RCMP, but multiple posts on Facebook identified him as Travis Squair.

RCMP say the incident happened Sunday in the Mabel Lake area, where the man lost control of his snowmobile before landing in a creek.

“The male was with a group of friends at the time of the incident, who attempted to assist the man, however he died as a result of his injuries,” RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett said in a news release.

Members of Search and Rescue were at the scene.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of those performing CPR on scene, the male succumbed to his injuries,” Brett said.

Many people expressed their condolences on social media, remembering Squair as an amazing husband and a wonderful father.

Police say that his death is not considered suspicious.
