Alberta’s most recent snowfall may have contributed to a teen driver’s death northeast of Edmonton.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP say the slippery road conditions may have been a factor in a deadly head-on crash between and an SUV and a truck on Highway 15 Saturday night.
It was around 7:43 p.m. that police were called to the scene of the collision, which claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl from the Stony Plain area. RCMP said the teenager died at the scene.
The 48-year-old driver of the truck was sent to hospital, but his injuries were minor. He’s since been treated and released.

For several hours, the North Saskatchewan River Bridge was closed while collision analysts surveyed the scene. It’s since been reopened to traffic.
While the weather is believed to be a factor, Mounties continue to investigate.
