Saskatoon police say they intercepted a swerving truck that entered the city Friday and have charged the two occupants with a number of charges, including dangerous driving and impaired driving.
RCMP initially notified Saskatoon police at around 6:30 p.m. CT that they had received complaints about a truck from motorists on Highway 12.
The vehicle was reported heading toward the city and exhibiting erratic driving behaviour, including speeding, swerving and passing on the shoulder.
Unmarked Saskatoon police units were waiting when the truck entered the city on Highway 12.
The vehicle was followed by patrol officers onto Circle Drive North, then slowed to the pace of traffic.
Saskatoon police said they were concerned the truck would display erratic and dangerous driving behaviour when traffic volume lightened, and therefore used tire deflation devices.
The truck eventually came to a stop on Highway 11, just south of the Circle Drive cloverleaf.
A 19-year-old man from North Battleford and a 22-year-old woman from Christopher Lake were apprehended. They were expected to have a hearing with a justice of the peace Saturday.
Blaine Lake RCMP are still investigating the complaints that originated in their jurisdiction.
