5 arrested, firearm seized in high-risk Saskatoon traffic stop

Saskatoon police say five people are in custody after a high-risk traffic stop Friday morning.

A patrol officer had stopped a suspicious vehicle at 33rd Street West and Avenue H North at around 7:40 a.m. CT.

It was then discovered a firearm might be inside the vehicle.

Additional units were called in to assist.

Police said three men and two women were arrested without incident and a firearm seized.

Charges have yet to be laid as police continue to investigate.

Traffic in the area was temporarily detoured to ensure public safety. Those restrictions have since been lifted.
