Police charge London man following church break-ins

London police have made an arrest in connection with three recent break-ins at three churches in the city.

Police says a church located at 521 Village Green Ave. was broken into during the overnight hours between Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. They say two churches were also broken into overnight between Feb. 22 and Feb. 23. One of those churches was located at 615 Baseline Rd. E. the other was at 290 Wortley Rd.

Members of the Street Crime Unit investigated the pattern of break-ins and made the arrest on Feb. 23.

A 28-year-old London man has been charged with two counts of break, enter and theft and one count of break and enter with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police say there were a number of break-ins at religious institutions of various denominations in the Old South and Wortley Village area in January.

They say those break-ins remain under investigation by members of the London Police Service street crime unit.
