Back-country skier injured; airlifted to Kelowna hospital

A back-country skier in the north Okanagan has been seriously injured.

It happened Monday afternoon in the Keefer Lake area east of Cherryville where there are helicopter and cat skiing operations.

There are few details but Vernon RCMP say they’ve heard the skier was caught up in an avalanche.

The person was taken by helicopter to the Kelowna hospital.
