Fatal snowmobile crash leaves one New Brunswick man dead

A man from Lyttleton, N.B., has died after a fatal snowmobile crash on Saturday.

According to New Brunswick RCMP, officers received a call about a snowmobile crash approximately 40 kilometres into the Sentier N.B. Trail system off Highway 108 between Plaster Rock and Miarmichi.

According to the Mounties, the man had been with a group of snowmobilers on the trial when he became separated from the group and struck a tree.

The 46-year-old was the only person on the snowmobile at the time of the collision.

Officers of the RCMP, along with representatives from New Brunswick’s motor vehicle enforcement section and an RCAF Cormorant helicopter based in Greenwood, N.S., attended the scene.

The identity of the 46-year-old man has not been released and RCMP believe alcohol is a factor in the crash.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
