A number of people were injured when an elephant trampled through the Kutupalong Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh on Thursday.

Local media reported that there may have been a fatality but this has not yet been confirmed with authorities.

Around 700,000 members of the persecuted ethnic Rohingya Muslim minority have fled violence in Myanmar since last August.

Negotiations are underway to have the Rohingya return to Myanmar, but there is extreme concern that their safety and well-being is not guaranteed.

Many have no homes to return to because their villages were burned down.
