Man in custody after teen stabbed in Saint-Leonard

A 20-year-old man is in police custody in connection with an armed assault in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough Wednesday night.

Montreal Police (SPVM) were called to the intersection of Bélanger and Daveluy streets at around 9:15 p.m. where they located an 18-year-old man who had “serious injuries” to both his upper and lower body.

SPVM spokesperson Andrée-Anne Picard said the injured teen had taken refuge inside a local business.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, but Picard said doctors do not fear for his life.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at around 10 p.m. on a nearby street. He is believed to be one of at least three individuals involved in the attack.

Picard said the suspect and victim are known to each other, however, the motive for the attack has yet to be determined.
