Second-hand economy thriving in Winnipeg

Canada’s second-hand economy continues to thrive, according to a popular online buy and sell site.

More Canadians than ever are getting in on the action in one form or another.

That’s according to a new report from Kijiji.

Award-winning writer and media personality, Kathy Buckworth, tells 680 CJOB it’s saving us a lot of money.

She says Canadians, on average, save two-thousand dollars year thanks to the second-hand economy.  She points out that the average raise in the country is about 17-hundred dollars.

Buckworth says Winnipeg is particularly active on Kijiji and the second most likely to donate items, behind only London, Ontario.

Kijiji says an estimated 28.5 billion dollars worth of second-hand items changed hands in 2017.
