TORONTO – A year after a TTC worker was shot at Dupont station, police and transit officials are again appealing for information in what TTC CEO Andy Byford called a “cowardly” and “despicable” act.
TTC booth collector William Anderson was shot multiple times Feb. 26, 2012 in an attempted robbery at the collector’s booth at Dupont subway station.
The suspect approached Anderson on Feb. 26, 2011 and unsuccessfully demanded cash. As the suspect was walking away, he or she turned and shot Anderson.
The suspect was last seen running south on Spadina Avenue, and police believe he/she is responsible for two previous robberies at the same station in June and October 2011.

The suspect is described as male or female, with a stocky build between 5’2″ and 5’5″. He or she was seen wearing all black clothing and a black balaclava covering his or her face.
Police noted the suspect held a pistol in their left hand during each robbery.
Police said it is imperative that this suspect is found.
“We want to get this individual off the streets, because this is an unprovoked attack,” Inspector Mike Earl said. “If it takes very little or nothing to provoke this individual to shoot we need to get this individual in custody.”
Byford renewed calls for information during a press conference Tuesday.
“It is unacceptable that people in the course of their public duty are shot at or assaulted in any way,” Byford said.
The TTC is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
