Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide in the Maples.
The body of 77-year-old Hossein Lotfi was found inside a home on Manila Road. Yellow police tape has surrounded the home since Tuesday night.
Police said the investigation started after a traffic stop in the area of St. Anne’s Road and Fermor Avenue.
“Suspicious behaviour by the occupants of the vehicle and property found at the time didn’t make sense to the officers,” said Const. Tammy Skrabek.
The circumstances surrounding that stop led officers to Manila Road where Lotfi’s body was found inside the home on Manila Road.
“We don’t have a crime reported. We have a body found at a location and we can’t confirm this is the crime scene, ” Skrabek said.
Skrabek said an autopsy revealed Lotfi had been murdered. Police are trying to piece together the timeline of his death.
Winnipeg police are asking anyone who may have been in contact with Lotfi recently to call investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
