Armed with a knife, a store clerk in Thomasville, N.C., was seen in surveillance video trying to stop a man, who was armed with a golf club, from stealing the store’s cash register.
The video shows the Dec. 13 robbery, in which the suspect, who was wearing a ski mask, got into an altercation with the clerk as he tried to take the register.
According to CBS affiliate WNCN, the incident began when a man ran into the store demanding money.

“I pulled the knife out and I was counting on him running. He has a golf club and I have a knife,” said Greg Bowen, the clerk seen in the video, to WNCN. “I told him ‘no,’ and I thought he would run, but he didn’t.”
Bowen added that he was able to strike the man’s hand but that the suspect was wearing very thick gloves and a jacket.
“We scuffled, and when he came around here, I lost the advantage I had, so, I waited until he got around and until I had a good angle then I hit him with the rack. He grabbed the register and went out the door,” said Bowen.
