Man charged with stealing poppy boxes at Lethbridge Tim Hortons & 7-Eleven

A 29-year-old man has been charged with theft after three poppy boxes were stolen in Lethbridge.

Police said the boxes held an unknown amount of money and were stolen between Nov. 5 and 9.

They were taken from the Tim Hortons along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North, 400 block of Scenic Drive South and the 7-Eleven along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North.

A police officer saw a man matching a suspect description obtained through surveillance images in the downtown area on Nov. 12.

“The male fled from police but was later located at the shelter where he was arrested without incident,” police said in a Monday statement.

Officers said the investigation continues in relation to additional thefts and further charges.

Brendon Lyndon Plaited Hair has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

Police said he has been released from custody and is set to appear in court Nov. 29.
