It was an emotional sentencing for two families in a Kentucky courtroom as the father of a murdered man forgave his son’s killer.
On Oct. 7, Trey Relford, 24, was sentenced to 31 years in prison for the 2015 murder of Salahuddin Jitmoud, 22.
Jitmoud, who was a pizza delivery driver, was found robbed and stabbed to death in a breezeway of an apartment complex, according to NBC affiliate, WLEX.

WKYT wrote that three people were arrested for the crime, however, a grand jury chose to indict Relford.

During the formal sentencing on Tuesday, Jitmoud’s father, Sombat Jitmoud, told Relford that he forgave him.
“I blame the devil who misguided you and [misled] you to do such a horrible crime. No, I don’t blame you, I’m not angry at you at all,” said Sombat Jitmoud to Relford.
“But I thank you for your forgiveness,” said Relford during his sentencing.

That’s when Relford and Sombat Jitmoud were seen holding hands before Sombat Jitmoud embraced Relford and hugged him for a few moments as Relford was seen wiping away tears.
