MONTREAL – Fire in an apartment building closed a portion of Atwater Ave. early Monday morning.
The fire broke out around 3 a.m. on the 10th floor of the 24-storey building just north of de Maisonneuve Blvd. The building was evacuated and several hundred tenants were allowed back into their apartments around 5 a.m.

Damage was contained to one apartment unit but four people were treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation. Atwater was reopened to traffic shortly before 6 a.m.
