Oscar-winning actor and author Tom Hanks used his appearance at the Texas Book Festival in Austin to help a couple get engaged.
He was at the festival on Saturday to speak to hundreds of people about his new book, Uncommon Type: Some Stories.
During a question-and-answer session, Hanks told the crowd he was bored of answering their questions and wanted to ask one of his own.

Hanks then took out a piece of paper and announced that there was a man in the crowd, Ryan McFarling, who had a question for a woman in the crowd, Nikki Young.
Hanks said the question was: “Nikki, will you marry me?”
The couple went on stage and McFarling got down on one knee and gave Young a ring.
