Calgary police are investigating a violent sexual assault on Macleod Trail that happened on Saturday morning.

Officers were called to a store in the 10000 block of Macleod Trail South at around 8:30 a.m.

In a Saturday news release, police said the victim had been “violently assaulted, including sexually assaulted.”

Police took one person into custody and said charges are pending.

In order to respect the privacy of the victim, police said they would not be releasing the name of the store where the victim was working when she was assaulted.

On Monday, the company released a statement saying their “thoughts and prayers” are with their team member and they “wish her a speedy recovery.”
