1 dead in residential fire in Toronto’s Junction Triangle
Thu, Oct 26: Hours after police responded to a call at a home in the Junction, fire crews rushed to the same address. As Caryn Lieberman reports, one person inside the home is confirmed dead – Oct 26, 2017

Toronto paramedics confirm one person is dead following a two-alarm blaze at a home in Toronto’s Junction Triangle neighbourhood.

Toronto Fire Services said crews responded to a call around 9 a.m. Thursday at a home on Sarnia Avenue just east of Symington Avenue.

Officials said firefighters saw smoke coming from the second floor and flames spreading to the attic.

Crews found one person inside the home in life-threatening condition. Toronto paramedics said the person died at the scene.

The victim’s age and identity have not been released.

The fire was knocked down around 9:30 a.m. and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
