The Edmonton Oilers are hoping to scratch two names off the injured list Tuesday when they end a three-game road trip against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Leon Draisaitl and Drake Caggiula both fully participated in Monday’s practice.

“Leon and Drake both look good. They feel good, but they both have a number of hurdles that they have to cross before they get cleared to play in tomorrow’s game,” explained head coach Todd McLellan.

“We’re anticipating that could happen but for me to say they’re in or out, I don’t have enough information right now to tell you that.”

Draisaitl has missed the last four games with an eye injury and concussion-type symptoms.

“I feel pretty good. I’ve felt pretty good the last couple of days,” Draisaitl said.

Caggiula has missed five games with an undisclosed injury.

“I’m happy to be out for a full practice and fully participate. I have to see how the rest of the day goes and how tomorrow goes. Don’t know for sure if I’ll be playing,” Caggiula said.

The Oilers are just 2-5 on the season and are second last in the league in goals-per-game. They have shored up their defensive issues, having allowed only three goals in the last two games.

“There’s still stuff to clean up, though,” defenceman Kris Russell said. “We’re going to have to win tight games.”
