11 car vs. deer crashes in a single weekend prompt safety tips from Lambton OPP

Lambton County OPP are cautioning drivers to keep their eyes peeled for wildlife on roadways as we move further into the fall season when animals are more active.

The reminder comes after officers in Lambton County responded to 11 crashes involving deer over the weekend.

Police say November and December are especially active months for deer because of their breeding and feeding patterns.

Drivers are reminded to scan ahead from shoulder to shoulder on the roadways, to reduce their speed especially at night and to brake firmly if an animal is in your path.

Officers say you shouldn’t veer in an attempt to avoid an animal.
