The Guelph-Wellington Basketeers are looking for donated gift baskets that will be delivered to women in need this holiday season.
With the help of the Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis Centre, the Basketeers will deliver these laundry hampers on Christmas Day, filled with basic household needs to women who are transitioning from a shelter into a new home.

“Unfortunately some with children have had to leave circumstances, situations where there is abuse — verbal, physical, and sexual,” said Laura Blinkhorn, co-ordinator of the Guelph-Wellington Basketeers. “They are in a situation where they might have to decide right then and there that they are leaving, and they abandon their home.”
The Basketeers are looking for new items, no sized clothing, and no food or drinks. Ninety baskets were donated last year and this year, they are hoping to get 120.
“Based on the crisis centre stats and numbers, people that they reach every year, we are looking to achieve full service that every woman and family get a basket this year,” Blinkhorn explained.
The baskets can be dropped off on Nov. 18 between 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis Centre on Elizabeth Street in Guelph.
