A man in his 30s has become Vancouver’s 16th homicide victim of 2017.
The man was found suffering from a stab wound Thursday night on Commercial Drive near East 1st Avenue around 9:30 p.m.
He was in medical distress and was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.
The victim was identified on Saturday as 33-year-old Joseph Glen Jandrew of Vancouver.
Detectives from the Vancouver Police’s Homicide Unit are working to piece together what led to this death.
“We have investigators on the scene now, and last night throughout the night, we’re looking for any video so we’re asking all the local residents, we’re asking anyone who may have been in the area having dinner last night, simply walking through,” said VPD Cst. Jason Doucette.
Police say no arrests have been made but investigators do not believe this was a random assault based on information collected so far.
Anyone who may have information about this homicide is asked to call detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
