U.S. counterfeit bills surfacing in Chilliwack

There have been more than a dozen reports of counterfeit U.S. $20, $50 and $100 bills being circulated in the Chilliwack area.

Cross Country Grocers in Rosedale, On the Way Store, M&M Meat Shop along with nine other shops from the Chilliwack Mall and Cottonwood Mall have fallen victim to the phony bills – which are described as being printed on computer paper and slightly larger than legitimate U.S. notes.

A male suspect in his early twenties with a grey BMW-like European car was spotted in one counterfeit passing instance.

Chilliwack RCMP are asking shop owners to pay close attention to any American notes they receive and if they suspect anyone of passing a fake bill to contact the police immediately.
