The Calgary Fire Department was called to a large fire just before 10 a.m. Sunday after large plumes of smoke were seen coming from an auto shop.
When crews arrived, they found multiple fires inside the building, Acting Battalion Chief Frank Ostrow said.
“We had smoke and flames coming from various sides and through the roof.”
Ostrow said there were reports of an explosion but that hadn’t been confirmed by CFD.
“As far as we know, nobody has been in the building but we haven’t been able to enter the building because of the large volume of smoke and flames.”

The hazardous materials team was also called to the scene to take air quality readings.
At least one car was burned outside the building.
