Wanted man arrested by Prince Albert police facing firearm charges

A wanted man who was arrested by Prince Albert police is facing seven firearm charges.

Officers were on patrol at around 2 a.m. CT on Tuesday in the northern Saskatchewan city when they identified a man known to have outstanding warrants.

Police said the man attempted to flee by running eastbound on 10th Street West towards Central Avenue.

He was tackled to the ground and handcuffed after a short chase.

Officers said a sawed-off .22 rifle had fallen from the man on the ground.

Kelsey Sakebow, 23, is also facing a charge of being at large of his recognizance. He is expected to make his first appearance Tuesday in Prince Albert provincial court.
