Summer isn’t technically over yet, and this weekend, hot temperatures are in the forecast and a variety of festivals and special events are happening throughout the city.

Here’s a look at what’s happening and how it will impact traffic and the roads. The city is encouraging anyone heading out to take in the festivities to use public transit, but there are also some TTC closures to be aware of.

All weekend

  • The TTC’s Line 1 is closed from Sheppard West down to St. George Station for signal upgrades. Shuttle buses will be running from Sheppard West to Lawrence West, and there will be increased service on 11 bus routes.
  • Dundas Station will be closed starting at 11 p.m. on Friday until around 6 a.m. on Monday, and Line 1 trains will be bypassing the station. The TTC says the closure is due to fare gate construction.
  • In the west end, Roncesvalles Avenue will be closed from Grafton Avenue and Dundas from 5 a.m. on Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday night for the Roncesvalles Polish Festival.
  • The Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival is happening just west of there. Bloor Street West will be closed between Jane Street and Runnymede Road starting Friday at 9:30 a.m. to Sunday at midnight.

Saturday

  • The Sunnybrook Foundation – RBC Run for the Kids race will see road closures and lane restrictions in North York on Saturday morning and afternoon until 2 p.m. Yonge Street is fully closed between Sheppard and Finch and there are lane restrictions/rolling closures in effect on parts of Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenue, as well as Yonge north of Finch.
  • Two lanes of Richmond Street West (between Duncan Street and Twilight Lane) will be closed on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the opening of OCADU’s Onsite Gallery.

Sunday

  • Open StreetsTO will see Yonge Street closed to vehicles from Bloor Street to Queen Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bloor is closed between Montrose Avenue and Sherbourne Street. Vehicles will be able to cross at many major intersections along both routes.
