Hamilton police are hoping for help in their investigation of an early morning hit and run in central Hamilton that put a man in hospital.

At about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a 28-year-old man was hit by a car as he was walking along Sanford Avenue North near King Street East.

Officers say the black sedan was going the wrong way on Sanford.

The car left the scene before police arrived.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives think there may have been an altercation between the driver and the man who was hit.

So far, the injured man has not been co-operative with police.

Police are asking anyone with information to call or contact Crime Stoppers.
