A member of the Nova Scotia RCMP was killed in a collision on Tuesday evening, after stopping to help change a tire on a New Brunswick highway.
The three-vehicle accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. on the eastbound lane of Highway 2 near Memramcook, N.B.
According to the RCMP, the officer had stopped to help two people in an SUV change a tire when a utility van collided with his police car and the SUV.

The 35-year-old male officer died at the scene. As of midday Wednesday, his name had not been released.
“The two people with the SUV were taken to hospital and the driver of the van was also taken to hospital where he was treated, released and has been taken into police custody,” said RCMP Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh.
Rogers-Marsh couldn’t say why the Nova Scotia officer was in New Brunswick at the time, but did confirm that he was on-duty and in uniform.
A colleague and friend of the officer tells Global News he was a dedicated and loyal RCMP member.
“I can say that he was an amazing police officer and person. He was dedicated to his job, loyal to the RCMP, and would do anything for anyone. He was truly one of the good guys,” said Blake DeCoste

The highway was closed until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday while emergency crews and investigators attended the scene.
