RBC cuts growth forecast for Saskatchewan

The Royal Bank of Canada is cutting its growth forecast for Saskatchewan due to weaker-than-expected construction spending intentions.

An R-B-C report says the provincial growth domestic product will grow by two-point-nine per cent year — down about six-tenths of a point from a previous forecast.

But the bank says Saskatchewan’s economy will benefit from a modest uptick in agricultural output and an expected recovery in mining activity.

The Saskatchewan government will bring down a new budget later today.
