The 20th anniversary of the Pathway of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at Showplace in Peterborough on Saturday. The ceremony honoured 11 people who have made significant contributions to arts and humanities in Peterborough and surrounding areas.
“Pathway of Fame commemorates those past and present performers, and builders, communitarians and visionaries whose contributions over the years have immeasurably enriched the cultural life of Peterborough, the surrounding Kawarthas and far beyond,” said 2010 inductee, Bea Quarrie.

Each of the inductees was nominated by a member of the community and then selected by a committee. Among them, David and Patricia Morton are well-known philanthropists, respected in the community for supporting many projects in the city and county, at Lakefield and Trent University.
The Mortons were recognized on Saturday under the Pathway of Fames’ newest category, Community Builder.
“It is so very special for us to be receiving this honour together as so many of our contributions to this wonderful community with volunteer and otherwise, have truly been made together,” said inductee David.

Another familiar face was Gary Dalliday. Dalliday was a sports director at Chex News for 34 years and on this day, he was recognized for his outstanding work in media and for volunteering his time to host sports and charity events.

“It certainly was an honour to be elected to the Pathway of Fame and have so many friends there. There were all kinds of Chex alumni down there and it was a terrific job to join them,” Dalliday said.
The trellis at the ceremony holds a symbolic significance.
“Those who pass through the trellis make the hallow journey from struggle to achievement, from accomplishment to awareness, from recognition to reward,” the speaker said.
The full list of this years inductees are: Audrey Caryi, Chuck Vollmar, George Novotny Sr., Bill Crane, Jim Coghlin, Stephen Kylie, Earl Spencley, Marie Callaghan, Gary Dalliday, David and Patricia Morton.
The inductees’ markers are officially up on the Pathway of Fame at Del Crary Park where the public can view them. The Pathway of Fame now holds a total of 252 names.
